SWTOR Nar Shaddaa (Republic) Yellow Matrix Shard Location Guide
The Yellow Matrix Shards are remnant relics of the Infinite Empire and no longer useful. Once they were used to create your first relics at the game's launch. Now it's simply part of the Datacron Master Achievement along with codex: Galactic History 36: The Quarren-Mon Calamari War. There are 5 Datacrons in total located on the planet of Nar Shaddaa.
Note: You can collect them on either Republic or Imperial Side as they count towards the same achievement.
Datacrons are collectables scattered around the galaxy in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Each Datacron contributes towards your Legacy's passive stats permanently. Furthermore, they also provide interesting Lore and Codex Entries about the Old Republic era.
Starting coordinates: 1698, 3088.
This Datacron is the same on both factions.
The Datacron is located at the Maintenance Terrace overlooking the Network Security District. This one requires you to interact with the area from the Orange Mastery Datacron in High Security Lockdown, so if you have not done that first, go do that now. Otherwise, start by climbing the stacked crates to get on top of the container.
To get to Network Security District, you have to take the path north from Network Security Lockdown, as shown on the map.
From the container, jump to the wall mounted pipe.
From this pipe jump onto the next pipe with a running jump and furster to the conduit. Remember to stay aligned with the pipe you are standing on to be sure you won't glide off too easy.
From the conduit you have to just to the next pipe with the same technique as the Orange Mastery Datacron from Coruscant. Get up on the single crate and jump from and angle, aiming towards the wall.
Do the same on the next one, but this time you have even less space to stand on.
From the final pipe, stay closer to the wall and aim towards the left side of the crates on the platform.
Now simply climb the crates up onto the catwalk.
Once you are up on the catwalk, run straight ahead staying toward the left side.
The Datacron is locked inside a Prize Machine. Simply right click the machine, consuming the Slot Decoder from your inventory and unlock your Datacron.
This will grant you a Yellow Matrix Shard, which is no longer useful, but is simply part of the Legacy achievement towards Datacron Master, along with the codex: Galactic History 36: The Quarren-Mon Calamari War.
This datacron holds unheard of power and knowledge collected by an ancient race. You access its power and discover writings which are clearly only one small piece of a massive galactic history:
Although the Quarren and Mon Calamari both evolved on the watery world of Dac, it was millennia before the two species encountered each other. Unfortunately, initial contact went badly and the Quarren declared war. The Mon Calamari had a technological and intellectual advantage, but the Quarren repeatedly refused any overtures of peace. Eventually, the Quarren were driven to near-extinction.
But the Mon Calamari had no wish to exterminate their cousins. In a bold social experiment, the Mon Calamari took young Quarren into their society and taught them civilization, mathematics and the sciences. When these young Quarren returned to their people, they had nothing in common with their primitive fellows. Within twenty years, they had become the dominant force in Quarren society, and eventually sought peace with the Mon Calamari.
